Soulmates: A Ranma 1/2 Fanfiction Chapter 1

Prologue:
Deep in the Japanese mountains, a master and student prepare for their final meeting.

"Haruta, this is your final test. Once complete, you will no longer be my student but my equal," the master explained.

"But Kuonji-sensei, there is still so much I have not learn!" exclaimed Haruta.

"Haruta, you have surpassed not only your father, but your teacher as well. You are ready," stated Kuonji-sensei, "deliver this letter to my daughter and follow her instructions."

"Understood, good-bye Sensei," Haruta said as he bowed and left.

"Good luck, m'boy, good luck," Kuonji-sensei muttered.

Chapter 1
My name is Haruta Koncôru. I'm an expert at cooking Okonomiyaki or Japanese pizza. My sensei, Kuonji-san, began to teach me when his attempts to secure an heir to his skills were thwarted by a man. This man goes by the name of Genma Saotome. Since that day, I begun to study under Kuonji-sensei; I have vowed to defeat that man and restore the Kuonji family's honor.
A few days later, the door to Ucchan's slid open.

"Hello, welcome to…" Ukyo stopped when she saw the person who had walked in. "Haru-kun?" she asked.

The man with light brown hair and jade green eyes looked at her, "Kyo-chan?" he asked unsurely.

Ukyo ran towards the man and hugged him, "Haru-kun! It's wonderful to see you again!" she exclaimed, "What brings you here?"

"To give you this," said Haruta as he handed her a letter, "It is from your father."
She opened the letter and read it.

"What does it say?" Haruta asked.

"It says that you are to help me at the shop," she answered.

"Really?" he said as he looked around, "Well I guess that this is home then."

"Here why don't you grab your stuff? I'll show you to your room," said Ukyo.

The two walked toward the spare bedroom. Once there, Haruta begins to unpack.

"Um, Haru-kun..." mumbled Ukyo.

Haruta turned around "What?"

"How old are you?" she asked.

"I turn 21 next week, why?" he asked.

"For some reason, I thought that you were still in high school," she said.

"Afraid I am not, but you are if I am not mistaken? I mean you are 16 right?" he asked.

"I'm 17, not 16!" she exclaimed.

"17, got it," said Haruta, "so you have school tomorrow then?"

"Yep! But today you get to learn the ropes of Ucchan's," answered Ukyo.

The next day, while Ukyo was at school, Haruta spent his time working on mastering Ukyo's recipes. At about 3:45pm, Haruta locked up shop and went to go pick up Ukyo. The school bell rang. The school day had ended and the students were headed home.

"Hey, Kuonji! There is someone waiting at the front gate for you," a classmate told Ukyo.

"Really?" she said as she left.

"Haru-kun?" questioned Ukyo as she walked up to him.

He smiled, "Hey, Kyo-chan, I figured that I would come and pick you up from school," said Haruta.

The other students were confused, who was he?

A couple days later, when Ukyo got home from school, she noticed that Haruta had a scratch on the back of his left hand.

"Haru-kun, where did you get that cut from?" she asked.

Haruta just smiled, "Cooking accident," he replied.

"Oh…" said Ukyo under her breath, "How did he manage to do that?"

Else were, Ranma and Akane are on their way home, when they noticed a person on the ground in the abandoned field.

Ranma recognized the person first, "Akane! It's Pops!!" he yelled as he ran toward his father. Akane followed close behind.

"Hey Pops, it me. Are you ok?" asked Ranma as he attempted to wake his father. Genma turned his head toward Ranma.

"Watch out for Koncôru… I think you are next…" Genma warned his son.

"Hey Akane, help me carry pops to Dr. Tofu's," said Ranma as he lifted his father up of the ground.

He was covered in bruises and a few cuts, who ever had done this to him was good, really good. Ranma and Akane headed toward Dr. Tofu's with the injured Genma in tow, unsure of the severity of his injuries.
