The mission was completed but to him, it was a failure. He was beaten and bruised, covered in cuts and scratches. The rest of team was also beat up pretty bad themselves. Which such injuries, how could this count as a success full mission? He hung his head, ashamed to make eye contact with anyone as he entered the village. Staring at the ground, his feet shuffling though the loose dirt that covered the road. A voice and a single tap on the arm pulled him away from the shame he felt. A pair of worried jade green eyes looked at him, concern gleaming in them. All his emotions ran together, the sadness, the fear, the shame, the dishonor. They swirled around inside of him, beating their might waves against him. The soft touch of her hand brought his eyes to meet hers. Uses the last of his strength, he lifted her into his arms. Hiding his face in her shoulder, the gate that held back his emotions. He wasn't ready for the world to see him break down. She was the only one who could see him like this. She was his guardian.
