HSV: On the seventh day of ChristmasSitting on the floor, the blonde watched the silver haired siblings string a length of lights around the branches of the large pine tree. He was a bit confused as to why they were putting the odd little lights on the tree, but decided to keep quiet until they were done.
“Niro san, something wrong?” The silver haired female asked.
“Um… well kinda. Ya see I’ma not sure why yer puttin’ them little lights on the tree” he answered.
She put her hands on her hips, that sentence was horrid; how many laws of grammar had he just violated? “Niro san, we are decorating the tree with Christmas lights” she explained.
“Don’t ya use ornaments to decorate?” he questioned back.
“You can use those too,” the silver hair boy commented before Moriko could snap back at Niro for his grammar.
“Oh, really?” Niro asked.
“Yes Niro san, you can use just about anything to decorate a Christmas tree: Fruit, flowers,
HSV: On the fourth day of ChristmasFixing the bandages on his hands, he walked through the snowy village streets. He needed to get cooking staples for his mother. Normally, his father was the gopher for her but Niro had lost the rock-paper-scissor match with Z. He would much rather be chopping fire wood than go shopping. Even though it was on the colder side, Niro only wore a turtleneck sweater and a hat extra to his normal outfit. The burns on his arms were slowly healing and the cool air helped numb the pain.
“Niro!” A male’s voice called from in front of him.
Looking up the blonde spotted a shorter person walking up to him. With a confused face, he questioned the figure, “Arioch?” he asked unsurely.
“Of course it’s me! Who else would look this good all bundled up?” he commented jokingly.
“Um… what now?” Niro responded with a blank face, missing the joke completely.
After an awkward silence, Arioch spoke up, “Never m
HSV: On the Third day of ChristmasThe large black Frisian nudged the boy hard in the shoulder, “Knight! I am working as fast as I can,” the boy stated as he placed the winter gear on the horse.
Knight let out a soft neigh in protest; he wanted to get out in the snow already.
“Let me get the sleigh hooked up and we’ll head out” the boy reassured as he finished putting the harness on.
While he was a bit naïve in the whole dating game, he knew a thing or two about how to set up a romantic moment.
Right now, the light snow that was falling had made the perfect back drop for a winter date. With the help of one of his mother’s horses, he would be able to give Yasashi pre-Christmas surprise.
He had told the young woman to come to his farm just after three in the afternoon, telling her to dress warm. Knight shook his head slightly; the soft sound of bells rang though the barn once Niro has finished hooking up the sleigh.
“And now we wait for our guest,” he stated as h
Abandoned ChapelThe parish waits now,
the loneliness of corners
crawling outward on walls--
chipped away by the wind,
and held together
by silk spindles;
cobwebs align them like the membranes of memories,
the cut of a jewel in an broken window
against the sun
where beads of rain
gather in a mesh of strands
a new Mosaic
against the backdrop of a cemetery;
My eyes seek out the sermon
in close proximity,
paint no distance
between headstone and cloud;
elegies topple each other
in their climb to heaven
as light trickles
over the shade,
breathes a new glow over snuffed candles.
I feel the weight in these empty rows,
how a breath couldn't cease to be breath
in the midst of prayer.
